MCA will be focusing on the delivery of various constructive developments in the country compared to the opposition which practises seditious and malicious politics, said MCA president Datuk Liow Tiong Lai.

Taking the example of the government''s efforts in bringing in foreign investors to the country, Liow said Pakatan Harapan leaders were trying to confuse the people by issuing false statements.

"We do not have to twist issues because when we obtain loans from China, we also receive support under the One Belt One Road initiative.

"The opposition tried to tarnish our efforts by painting various negative pictures such as Malaysia being colonised by China, we are selling the country and so on. These are all not true.

"We are uniting the people not only from the Chinese community but from the various races for us to focus on national development and not the destruction of the country by running down their own nation," he told a press conference after opening the Penang MCA Belt and Road Centre (Mbrace) here Sunday.

The centre was launched last December to enable entrepreneurs from Malaysia and China to seize opportunities with information exchange and business matching.

Liow, who is also Transport Minister, said the DAP Penang government was slapping its own cheek when the state assembly passed the Penang Loan Bill 2017 to enable the government borrow from a bank in China.

He said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng described the loan as a recognition from the Chinese government based on the state''s good financial performance.

"When Penang obtains a loan, they said this is very good. But when we obtain loans, they said we are selling the country. How double standard they are," he said.

He also described the DAP state leadership as not living to its promises when it failed to fulfil 51 pledges made after winning the state nine years ago.

"We are not like the Penang DAP. We are a responsible government, Barisan Nasional delivers what we promise. We will ensure the country continues to develop rapidly," he said.
