The UMNO-led Barisan Nasional government will continue to rule the country after the 14th General Election, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

He said this was because unity all around in the coalition was strong.

"There are quarters (opposition) out there wanting to form the government but I don't think they will succeed," he said when opening the Semporna UMNO Division delegates' conference here today.

Mahdzir said the government had a proven track record when it came to the well-being of the people, be they in rural or urban areas.

"Over the past 50 years, the country which was built by BN and UMNO has provided an education policy for the people regardless of race and religion.

"The government has also provided vast infrastructure to the people...We have Felda (government land scheme), facilities for fishermen and infrastructure for the people. A government is not built by one person, it is a team effort," he added.
