Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup called on the people of Sabah to reject the opposition, especially the DAP, as the party's presence in Sabah was only to cause disunity.

"You need to know that they come here to find the weakness of the government with the aim of inciting the people," he told reporters at the handing over ceremony of the Parliamentary Agriculture Development Council (MPPP) project in Kampung Kawakahan, Sook.

Kurup said the people of the interior should continue to support the Barisan Nasional (BN) under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who had a good track record of helping people in all aspects.

He said Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) as a component of BN in the Pensiangan constituency, was absolutely committed to fight for the welfare of the people in rural areas, especially in the development of infrastructure, economy and education.

"We realise the importance of education, for example, and it is among the main agenda to be given attention because education can boost the position of the people at the national level as well as in the international arena," he said.

Commenting on the council's project, he hoped that the village development and security committee could ensure the allocation given on the projects would be implemented properly to yield maximum benefits to the local community.
