Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah chaired his first State Executive Council (exco) meeting at 9.20am today, at Wisma Darul Aman.

The nine state councillors who had taken their oath of office before Kedah Regency Council chairman, Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah at Istana Anak Bukit on Monday, were at the meeting.

The nine were retained from the exco under former MB, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir.

Ahmad Bashah, who assumed the post after Mukhriz's resignation on Feb 3, arrived at his office at 9am and was briefed by Kedah state secretary Datuk Bakar Din before starting the meeting.

The MB has also taken up the Economic Planning, State Planning, Land Affairs, Land Revenue and Natural Resources, State Action Council, Finance and State-Owned Companies portfolios.

Minor changes had also been made to portfolios held by five councillors.

Guar Chempedak assemblyman Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail is Industry and Investment, Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs and Cooperatives, and Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) exco.

Tanjung Dawai assemblyman Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain is exco for Education, Transport and Non-Governmental Organisations, while Kuala Nerang assemblyman Badrol Hisham Hashim holds the Housing and Local Government, Water Supply, Water and Energy Resources portfolio.

Ayer Hangat assemblyman Mohd Rawi Abd Hamid holds the Religion, Tourism and Heritage, and Works portfolio while Gurun assemblyman Dr Leong Yong Kong is exco for Environment, Chinese, Indian and Siamese Community Affairs, Health and Solidarity.

Among the four councillors who kept their portfolios are Jitra assemblyman Aminuddin Omar (Youth and Sports, Arts and Culture, Human Development) and Belantik assemblyman Mohd Tajudin Abdullah (Information, Rural Development and Poverty Eradication).

Two others are Bandar Baharu assemblyman Noorsabrina Mohd Noor (Science, Innovation and Information Technology, Communications and High Technology and Information Resource) and Sungai Tiang assemblyman Suraya Yaacob (Women Development, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Entrepreneurial Development and Social Welfare).
