Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today described the strong support given by Johor UMNO to his leadership as a reminder for him to continue solving the problems faced by the people and the
country wisely.

Najib, who is also UMNO president said he viewed the support given by Johor UMNO not as a support that would destroy the party and the country, but as the people's confidence in the top leadership.

"Sometimes, support can be destructive, but the support from the people in Johor reminds me about issues that need to be solved.

"They remind me to try and solve the issues soon, so that the people's support will be stronger, and InsyaAllah, we will win again (in the general election)," he said when launching the handing over of Melana Indah People Housing Project here today.

The prime minister said besides Sabah, Johor UMNO had always given their support based on solidarity of party members and loyalty to the party's top leadership, hence causing it to remain as the backbone of the country, in terms of politics.

"I take this (support) as their confidence in the leadership ... history proved that each leadership has its own huge challenges.

"But, the solution depends on the ability and the wisdom of the leader. With the people's support, any crisis can be solved," he said.

The prime minister also gave assurance that as the country's leader and captain, he would make sure that the ship would stay on its planned course.

Earlier, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin in his speech stressed that Johor UMNO would always stay with the prime minister in facing the various issues and challenges hurled at him.

"On behalf of Johor UMNO, I would like to announce that in the Johor UMNO Liaison meeting yesterday, we have also pledged our full support to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
