Former PAS vice president Datuk Husam Musa joining Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will not affect PAS, said its deputy spiritual leader Datuk Ahmad Yakob.

He said it was still to early to gauge Amanah's strength especially after the former PAS stalwart joined the PAS splinter last night.

"To know whether they (Amanah) are strong or not, wait till the general election," he told reporters here today.

Husam, who is also Salor assemblyman, announced that he was joining Amanah in Cyberjaya last night.

He was sacked from PAS in April following his vocal criticism of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang especially on alleged cooperation between PAS and UMNO as well as the failure of the Kelantan government to tackle the issue of illegal logging.
