Gerakan has confirmed that it will contest in 13 seats if the Penang snap poll is called any time soon.

Its president, Datuk Mah Siew Keong said that the party was confident that it would perform better than the previous polls as the party had raised many issues regarding the well-being of the people of Penang.

State Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong said that the party would contest in Batu Lancang, Sungai Pinang, Datuk Keramat, Padang Kota, Air Itam, Kebun Bunga, Pulau Tikus, Tanjung Bungah, Batu Uban, Pantai Jerjak, Bukit Tengah, Macang Bubuk, and Tambun if state elections were called.

The seats were the traditional seats for Gerakan in the previous polls, however, Mah said that there might be changes if other component parties want to swap seats.

"We will hold a discussion pertaining the matter if it happens," he said.

Mah, however, refused to reveal the potential Gerakan candidates and said that the party would only reveal the names once DAP had revealed theirs.

The decision on the seat allocation was made after the emergency party meeting last night at its state party headquaters at Jalan Macalister.
