The fresh re-election of DAP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) will be held on Nov 12 at the Ideal Convention Centre Shah Alam, Selangor.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng told a special media conference here Monday that the date had been agreed to by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) Department.

He said the party would also adhere to the RoS’ order to re-use the list of 2,576 delegates recorded in 2012 for the re-election.

“We are not afraid to hold a fresh re-election, whether we have to use the 2012 list or new ones, we will go ahead with it as decided by RoS on Sept 21.

“We call on all delegates, based on the 2012 list, to come and vote...but of course there will be some who will not be able to be there, either they have died or due to other factors. In this case, RoS had agreed that their names can be removed,” he said.

On July 17, DAP received official notification from RoS regarding the department’s order for the party to hold a fresh re-election of its CEC.

The order was issued as RoS had neither accepted nor recognised the election held by DAP on Dec 15, 2012 and the re-election on Sept 29, 2013.

Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, said the fresh re-election would be conducted by an independent audit firm, Grant Thornton, and that the RoS had also agreed to the appointment.

The fresh re-election would also use the list of candidates from the 2012 election, he added.
