Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has made a plea to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad not to resign as Prime Minister.

“I was with him, but I only found out when it was made public.

"I appealed to him on behalf of PKR and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to remain as Prime Minister," the PKR president told reporters shortly after returning from Istana Negara here today.

Anwar along with his wife and Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail met Dr Mahathir at the Prime Minister's residence in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

Also present at the meeting were Trust President, Mohamad Sabu and DAP Secretary-General, Lim Guan Eng.

During the meeting, Anwar informed Dr Mahathir that they would deal with the 'treason' that had allegedly occurred.

Anwar said, Dr Mahathir had no role in the current unity government plot, to overthrow the PH government.
