DAP today said it will contest in eight state seats in Selangor which are currently held by PAS.

DAP Selangor chairman Tony Pua said the party is now preparing to place its candidates in the eight state seats.

The seats are Taman Templer, Lembah Jaya, Paya Jaras, Sri Serdang, Meru, Chempaka, Dusun Tua and Tanjung Sepat.

“We will prepare to contest in these seats. Whether we will contest in all these eight seats or few of them will be decided at the Pakatan Harapan Selangor’s meeting,” he said at a press conference today.

“It would depend on the discussion but we will make the appropriate preparation to contest in the seats,” he added.

Pua said as the first step, the party had appointed DAP Bandar Utama Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof as the coordinator for Taman Templer state seat to make necessary steps for the party to contest there.

When asked if the matter has been informed to Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, Pua asked, “What has this got to do with Azmin?”

The Petaling Jaya Utara MP was also asked to comment on DAP's decision since PKR has said that they will continue to work with PAS.

"PKR cooperate with PAS lah. What's that got to do with DAP?"

"And PAS themselves has mentioned that they want to contest in DAP seats."

Pakatan Harapan is a coalition of DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara. It was set up following the "demise" of Pakatan Rakyat.

PKR had tried to get PAS to be part of the new coalition but the Islamic party had rejected the offer profusely, saying it could no longer work with “party traitors” and the DAP.

PAS had deemed Amanah as traitors for pinching its members from PAS, while the DAP had openly severed ties with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang over the hudud issue.
