The Cameron Highlands parliamentary constituency remains as MIC seat, said its party president Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam.

He said claims by People's Progressive Party (MyPPP) president Tan Sri M Kayveas that Cameron Highlands would be returned to MyPPP was not true.

"The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) himself has informed me that the seat belongs to MIC and will not be changed to other parties despite him (Kayveas) claiming the seat belongs to them," he told reporters after hosting a Deepavali Open House at his residence in Lorong Ujong Pasir here today.

Dr Subramaniam, who is also Health Minister, said the prime minister was remained steadfast of the view that the Cameron Highlands seat belonged to MIC and it was agreed upon by other Barisan Nasional component parties.

According to him, MyPPP's claims that the parliamentary seat belonged to MyPPP according to historical factors was inaccurate as "history is changing".

He was asked to comment on the claims made by Kayveas that Cameron Highlands would be handed over to MyPPP based on the promise made by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 2000.
