Felda settlers have been urged to support the Barisan Nasional (BN) so that it can win back six 'Felda parliamentary seats' in the 14th general election (GE14).

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said to achieve this, BN needs a more systematic strategy to win over the voters in Felda schemes.

"We want to win back six seats lost to the opposition. We won 54 (parliamentary seats comprising Felda schemes) and lost six," he said when opening the 7th annual general meeting of Felda Youth Council here, today.

Zahid said since Felda is an agency and a national asset, it is not spared from the lies of certain parties.

"Felda has constraints and is not perfect. With Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad as Felda chairman, I am very confident that he can transform Felda."

Ahmad Zahid said Felda has been through the process of urbanisation and is among the best models in the world.

"We want a policy of urbanisation not only in terms of social mobility or migration to urban areas but also to urbanise Felda schemes."

He urged Felda's second and third generation to become major supporters of the urbanisation of Felda schemes. - BERNAMA
