The Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders urged voters in the Padang Serai parliamentary constituency not to repeat the mistake of choosing the leader of the opposition in the upcoming 14th General Election.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said residents of Padang Serai, now under the opposition candidate, must learn from the lesson after falling behind in terms of development projects which should be enjoyed by them.

"He (N. Surendran - PKR) has been elected as Member of Parliament and the constituency has been under the opposition for two terms, but hardly any changes were made here.

"He has the power but only appears once in five years and I hope that people here are aware of that and do not continue to make the same mistake by choosing such leaders in the general election," he told reporters after a working visit to the Padang Serai parliamentary constituency.

During the visit, Ahmad Bashah visited and met the traders at the morning market in Padang Serai before heading towards Matang Durian, Merbau Pulas, to meet nearly 1,000 residents who attended the ''Menteri Besar Turun Padang'' programme.

Ahmad Bashah said, through the working visit and the feedback from local residents, he hinted the BN leadership would be able to recapture the Padang Serai parliamentary seat in the next general election.

"I believe people here are getting smarter to decide for their future. If they continue to be represented by the opposition, then there will be no development implemented except complaints," he said.
