Tawau UMNO Division chief Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan today handed out aid to about 50 Chinese community leaders in the Tawau parliamentary constituency.

He said the government did not marginalise any community even if it had voted for the opposition.

"We continue to develop this (Seri Tanjong) area although we have lost here. Annually, we continue to provide increasing allocations and aid to non-Muslim religious bodies," he said to reporters after distributing the aid.

On the lack of Chinese support for the BN, Tawfiq said the community was influenced by the propaganda and false promises of the opposition.

He said it was hoped that the Chinese would place their trust in the BN appointed representatives to champion their cause.

"The selected BN representatives are bridges which link the community to the state and federal governments," he added. - BERNAMA
