The Barisan Nasional (BN) can only win the 14th General Election (GE14) if all its component parties give their support to efforts by the coalition in protecting the interests of the people in the country, said MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam.

As such, Dr Subramaniam, who is also Health Minister, said it was important for all BN component parties to work together so that their efforts could be coordinated for maximum effect.

Citing the Segamat parliamentary constituency, where he is the member of parliament, Dr Subramaniam said he received undivided support from other BN component parties, especially UMNO and MCA, in his effort to develop the constituency, and the party representatives were able to sit together to discuss on what was best for the people.

"Unity among component parties (BN) in Segamat is very strong as there is no politicking among us. Only through such a cooperation can we move forward and plan on how to help the people," he said in his speech at a Deepavali Open House at Taman Yayasan here tonight.

Dr Subramniam said the BN component parties in Segamat were now planning on socio-economic development in the constituency now that the infrastructure needs including flood problems in the area have been resolved.
