Head of Information of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth (Armada), Ulya Aqamah Husamuddin has called for the party's top leadership to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to discuss some of the controversial issues of recent times.

He, who is also a member of the Supreme Council (MPT) of Bersatu said, the party's direction, including the alliance with Pakatan Harapan or the Perikatan Nasional should be done according to proper procedure, either through an annual or extraordinary general assembly.

He said, the right to decide the direction of the party does not belong exclusively to the top leadership but rather should involve the participation of the grassroots.

“We (Armada) want them (the leaders) to remember, the party is in principle under the people's struggle and is rooted in the grassroots and this is a warning to all leaders.

“It must be reminded that Armada comprises of over 50 per cent of the party's membership. So, please listen to our voice when we want a meeting.

"I and YB Syed Saddiq (Bersatu Armada Head) who are also MPT members, ask them (supreme leaders) to call for a MPT meeting if they are on the right side," he said at a press conference here today.

Apart from the party's direction, Ulya Aqamah said the meeting could also determine whether the nullification of membership of the five Members of Parliament (MPs) in Bersatu -- Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, Dr Maszlee Malik, Syed Saddiq and Datuk Amirudin Hamzah - was constitutional or otherwise.
