Bersatu Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof today said that none of the party's divisions have been dissolved.

He pointed out that divisions in which its committee members had announced their decision to quit the party remain intact as they are still registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

"There is no issue of divisions being dissolved as according to the party constitution, even if division committee (members) quit or are sacked, the division is not automatically dissolved.

"The Supreme Council can appoint (a new committee) to ensure the division remains intact... those who are claiming the divisions are dissolved are ones who do not understand the party constitution," he told reporters in Parliament today.

Several grassroots party leaders, including division chiefs and committee members, especially in Selangor, had announced their exit from the party, with speculation that they were planning to join the new party set up by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Mohd Redzuan, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) described the ones who left as those from a minority group.

The majority of members were fully behind party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Bersatu remains steadfast to its original struggles, he said.

Mohd Redzuan also said that Bersatu may amend the party constitution to do away with the chairman's post.

"If there is a need (to amend the constitution), we will do this at an extraordinary general meeting, or anytime for that matter, as we now know the problem, (and that is) there can only be one captain to a ship," he said.
