The Menteri Besar of Kedah today warned the people to be wary of so-called promises by certain quarters in their bid to wrest the state from Barisan Nasional (BN).

Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah cited new parties such as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia which had been making many promises claiming they were better and more able to bring development to the people.

"We have a government and a great leader; BN has brought many changes," he said at the launch by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak of the National Grade System rural electrification project at Pulau Tuba here today.

He said the people should appreciate the Prime Minister's recognition of Kedah as the 'heart' of UMNO, "which is not a light responsibility to carry".

"As the heart of UMNO, we must look ahead; the BN government always fulfills its promises and we have been highly acknowledged by the prime minister who had made sure that the whole of Kedah progresses.

"It is our duty as the people of Kedah to repay that kindness and show our gratitude," said the MB. - BERNAMA
