UMNO Youth has urged the government to refrain from introducing any price hikes in light of the increasing cost of living in the country.

Its chief, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar in his speech during the launch of UMNO Youth General Assembly 2015, Khairy Jamaluddin stressed that the rakyat have had enough and are unable to borne the increased costs that have caused a burden on their lives.

“Pemuda want the government to stop increasing all hikes at all costs. Enough is enough,” said Khairy Jamaluddin who is Youth and Sports Minister at Putra World Trade Centre here today.

He added that UMNO Youth also argue that all toll hikes at any highways in the country.

“When toll tariffs are increased in the past, we seek the youths to hop on the public transport. But now, after the toll hike, commuter, ERL fares and all other fares are increased too. What choice does the rakyat have, do we expect them to walk,” he added.

The Rembau MP also cautioned the government to deliver its promises made in the 13th General Election Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto.

“When push comes to shove and the government sees no other options but to increase toll tariffs but don’t do it on any tolls that connect the cities such as North South Expressway and East Coast Expressway (LPT2). That is our promise,” said Khairy Jamaluddin.

The increase in the increasing of cost of living is expected to dominate the debate at the UMNO Youth assembly today.

On the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue, Khairy Jamaluddin has also urged the government to not only reduce the debts but also to regain the rakyat’s trust deficit and the crisis of confidence to stem the declining faith in the present administration.

“The trust deficit among the rakyat must be addressed,” he said.
