Several Terengganu member of parliament today voiced mixed reactions in response to the motion of no-confidence raised by Kijal Assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said towards the administration of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad said, the current state of affairs is a testimony of the instability within UMNO Terengganu which has the advantage of two seats.

He said, the scenario shows a speck of political instability in Terengganu, thanks to the no confidence motion by Ahmad, who is the party’s right-hand man.

“It is not possible that Ahmad (Said) and his supporters would take a different approach. We must remember that when he (Ahmad Said) was sacked, several party members also left UMNO along with him and after much persuasion by the party leadership, he opted to re-join the party.

“This matter is acceptable taking into consideration the political turmoil in the county where political movements including that by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for instance,” said Raja Kamarul when met by Astro AWANI at Parliament lobby here, today.

He said that whatever possibilities should be considered especially if Ahmad (Said) exits the party.

The latter, said Raja Kamarul doesn’t necessarily need to join other political parties, yet it is sufficient for him to elect himself as an independent candidate – a scenario that had happened in the early days of Terengganu political history.

“It was back in the 1960s when the ruling government was changed when there were certain quarters attempted a coup of sorts before the elections.

“It isn’t impossible as it is permitted by in the existing law and regulation,” he said.

Marang MP and Pas President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang also added that he is leaving the matter to UMNO.

“Pas is not involved and it is up to UMNO to decide. There are other issues (for the motion of no confidence) … this isn’t about the post,” he added

Besut MP, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said he will leave the matter to the State Legislative Assembly to resolve the issue.

“I was not around yesterday. So, I don’t know what is happening but I believe the State Legislative Assembly would know how to tackle the issue,” he said.

Yesterday, Ahmad (Said) raised the no confidence motion against the Ahmad (Razif)’s administration. The former raised the motion Tuesday while debating on the motion of thanks of the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Abidin’s speech at Wisma Darul Iman in Kuala Terengganu.
