Leaders of several states believe that Datuk Abang Johari Tun Openg is capable of strengthening Sarawak's economic and political stability and ensuring that the state will continue to progress and prosper.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said the appointment of Abang Johari as the new Sarawak Chief Minister was a right decision due to his vast experience in state administration, including as the Deputy Chief Minister.

"I'm confident that Sarawak will continue to prosper under the administration of Abang Johari, who is Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Deputy President," he said in a statement here on Friday.

In KOTA KINABALU, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the appointment of Abang Johari would keep Sarawak on the right path.

Musa said Abang Johari, being a nine-term assemblyman for Satok and having held various prominent posts in government, would bring vast experience to the table.

"Sarawak is not only a close neighbour but we are like family. I look forward to working closely with Abang Johari and forging greater cooperation between our governments for mutual benefit," he said.

Meanwhile, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah expressed confidence that Abang Johari would be able to discharge his new duties as Chief Minister well based on his vast experience in politics and state administration.

"With his vast experience, it is hoped that Sarawak will have a brighter future," he said.

Sharing his view was Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron who described the appointment as a way to continue the legacy of Adenan, in terms of leadership, management and administration.

Idris said Abang Johari also had vast experience as PBB deputy president.

"I'm confident and strongly believe that he will be able to continue the style of leadership, administration and management mooted by the late Tan Sri Adenan.

"I have known Abang Johari as a very experienced youth leader. I'm confident that he has the ability and certain privileges to take Sarawak to greater heights," Idris said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin also expressed confidence that Abang Johari would continue on his predecessor's path towards making Sarawak a peaceful, more prosperous and successful state.

In a statement, he also wished that the Land of the Hornbills would continue to progress and prosper under the leadership of its new chief minister. -BERNAMA
