All members of the Cabinet should share the responsibility with Datuk Seri Najib Razak in dealing with the issue surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and not leaving in to the Prime Minister to handle it alone, said UMNO veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

"Everyone (Cabinet members) is collectively responsible. You can’t say it’s not your problem. As long as you're a Cabinet member, regardless if you're in the know or not, you must be equally liable.

"If they (Cabinet members) don't know about the issue, then they should investigate," said Razaleigh, popularly known as Ku Li.

On the matter of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's statement to UMNO leaders during a closed-door function that the management and board of directors of 1MDB should be sacked, the former finance minister said the statement made by the UMNO deputy president was not shocking, it was just apt.

"If a leader of an organisation does not perform and has committed an offence, for sure stockholders will have to take action. Especially if the wrongdoing has caused a huge loss.

"However, in my opinion, as Deputy Prime Minister, Muhyiddin should've spoken to the prime minister first on 1MDB's problems and problems faced by the country," he told newsmen at the Parliament today.

Razaleigh was commenting on a leaked video of Muhyiddin calling for 1MDB's board to be sacked during a closed-door UMNO gathering recently.

Muhyiddin had previously said this was his advice to Najib.

1MDB had been under the spotlight over the last few months after various quarters had alleged mismanagement of funds and poor investments by the government-owned strategic development company.
