The Wangsa Maju Parliamentary seat may be considered by many as a hot seat but the duo that were placed there to lock horns by Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), seem to be at ease with each other.

In fact, Umno Wangsa Maju division chief Datuk Mohd Shafei Abdullah and former Land and Co-operative Development Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong were so at ease with each other that they had breakfast together at the nomination centre.

The duo will be engaging in a straight fight to woo voters in the constituency.

Both arrived around at the same time to the nomination centre in SMK Wangsa Melawati to file in their nomination papers.

Dressed in a lavender Baju Melayu with a blue sampin, Mohd Shafei, who is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s political secretary was the first to arrive sharp at 9am.

Tan, who was dressed in a blue and white chequered short-sleeved shirt and black slacks arrived around 9.15am.

Mohd Shafei’s nomination was proposed by Hamdan Mohd Yusoff and seconded by Mohan Sukumara Pillay while Tan’s nomination was proposed by Rahim Said and seconded by Mohd Ramzan Abdul Ghafoor Khan.

Both left their hordes of screaming supporters to enter the hall for the filing.

Within an hour later, returning officer Mahadi Che Ngah announced that the nominations for the seat has been closed with the duo going clashing head on with each other.
