Datuk Seri Rais Yatim will not be re-contesting the Jelebu parliamentary seat in Negeri Sembilan.

The Minister for Information, Communication and Culture tweeted late last night to confirm that he was out of the 13th General Election.

However, in his posting, Rais also sought out the people’s support for Barisan Nasional.


Meanwhile, Umno youth chief and former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin responded to the tweet by thanking the 71-year-old veteran politician.



In 2008, Rais had retained the Jelebu seat with 19,737 votes compared to the 8,127 votes obtained by the the Pas candidate Norman Ipin .

The complete list of candidates in the state is expected to be announced later today by the state BN chief, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
