MCA's candidate for Seputeh parliamentary seat, Nicole Wong Siaw Ting, who is undergoing confinement after the birth of her second son on March 18, has pledged to work harder during the campaign period to ensure victory for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th polls.

While expressing her happiness to have been selected as BN candidate, Nicole, 33, said the confinement would not be an obstacle for her to go all out for her campaign.

"I will not let the confinement to be an obstacle in my campaign for the 13th polls. Instead, I will work harder for it," she told Bernama here today.

Nicole, who is MCA Wanita central committee member and MCA Beliawanis deputy chief, is among the 12 new faces named as BN candidates in the Federal Territories.

She said her husband, Allen Kok, as well as her family, were in full support of her political career.

Nicole said giving her condition, she did not expect to be named as the BN candidate for Seputeh in this year's general election.

"Throughout my pregnancy, I was told to go to the ground on the capacity as Seputeh BN Coordination Committee chairman Datuk Chai Kim Sen. Among the tasks entrusted to me were to meet with the people, listen to them and solve their problems," she said.

There are approximately 86,000 voters in Seputeh and the parliamentary seat is currently held by Teresa Kok of DAP.
