Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will face a PAS candidate in a straight fight to defend his parliamentary seat, Pagoh, in the general election on May 5.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman, will again be challenged by Mohd Rozali Jamil, whom he had beaten in the last general election.

This was announced by the Pagoh returning officer, Zulkifly Mohd Tahir, at about 11.50am.

"After studying (the nomination papers) and having been satisfied, I find there was no candidate being rejected for nomination. Therefore, I now confirm that the candidates contesting the Pagoh parliamentary seat are Muhyiddin Yassin from BN and Mohd Rozali Jamil from PAS," he said.

Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister submitted his nomination papers at the nomination centre at the Pagoh Sports Complex, here at 9.30am, while his challenger handed in his papers at 9.01am.
