Umno vice president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has expressed his disappointment over Wanita Umno deputy chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim decision to contest as an independent candidate for the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seats.

The Barisan Nasional deputy chairman said Kamilia has been sacked from UMNO automatically as a result of her action.

“I am quite disappointed because she is Wanita UMNO deputy chief, the second highest in Wanita UMNO would do something against the rules, our fight and the principal of the party.”

“This is very disappointing because if this happens, automatically they are sacked from the party but at the same time shows the firmness of the party in taking action against saboteurs especially during this crucial election period,” said Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin was met after the nomination process for the Pagoh parliament seat at the Pagoh Sports Complex today.

Meanwhile in MANJONG, repoters NABIHAH HAMID reports Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Kadir, who is also UMNO Perak communication chairman also expressed his disappointment with Kamilia’s action.

He said that Kamilia’s fate would be dealt by the top leaders on the course of action.

“We cannot stop her. She is now facing the possibility of her action according to the party,” he said when met at the nomination centre for Lumut parliament seat.

Zambry added that Kamilia’s action was not according to principal.

Yesterday Muhyiddin had said that any party component members who contest as independent in the 13th General Election will be dropped for life or sacked automatically from the party.

Kamilia had complained that the Wanita UMNO movement candidates were not nominated as candidates in the election.

Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak, who is also UMNO president explained that Kamilia was offered to stand in the Bukit Chandan state seat and was promised an exco post if BN regained mandate to run the country but she had rejected the offer.

In relation to the issue, Najib said there were no issues about people being sidelined or unappreciated by BN.

“It was her decision, so there issue about the Wanita UMNO deputy chief not given a chance or not appreciated or given a seat by BN. She wanted to contest in a parliamentary seat but we feel she is suited for a state seat and exco,” said Najib.

Meanwhile Wanita Umno chief Dato Sri Shahrizat Jalil also express her deepest disappointment over Kamilia's action to contest as an independent.
