ALL the waiting is over, bar the shouting. Nominations begin today and the most competitive, crowded and crucial general elections for years is on. If this were some big game cup final, the referee would have pursed his lips, blown the whistle and shouted; GAME ON!

So what do we have, who is in the fight?

We know now how on the eve of the contest, some signs of shenanigans took place – it will never be known who threw a flare amongst the crowd outside the stadium but it set off a buzz that created huge pre-match excitement. Sorry, this is a Saturday, a day in which I would normally look forward to a La Liga or BPL match with action off and on the pitch.

If you have not been following the pre-nomination trail – trial; for the DAP; its to do with the flags and symbols controversy and the; yes you can, no you are not exactly banned edict by the Registrar of Societies – that august body which oversees the conduct and business of organizing, managing and running your coalition of – anything!

It was they who set the cats among the pigeons by raising the issue of the legal status of the party’s office bearers following the festering sore left by the action of some renegades who questioned the conduct of its most recent elections. It must be said, there was and there is; nothing wrong with their decision. Timing?….hmmm.

So, if I were a tree, I would be cringing at the prospect of the DAP prospective candidates all over its 53 parliamentary seats and 103 State seats unnecessarily stripping off more bark, duplicating their efforts and filling in forms in duplicate. They of course are just being cautious, just to be ready for the possibility that their Rocket symbol might fail to ignite and be left on the launch pad.

The BN too has its fair share of palpitations the past few days though not nearly rocky enough to register any vibrations on the Richter scale. Some of its former stalwarts had the case of the sulks, quite unable to accept the fact that their era is up.

I don’t know about you, but I am sooooo…looking forward to the next few days of campaigning. I will make an attempt to attend all the ceramah sessions in my Lembah Pantai voting constituency and listen intently each party will do for me, for the economy, for humanity?

Undilah…undilah…Marilah mari, mari mengundi….Ooops! Belum lagi la...I need to keep my powder dry for Polling on Sunday May 5 nanti...he..he...
