Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has slammed former Kulim Bandar Baharu MP Zulkifli Noordin for his insensitive statement on Twitter today over the death of DAP chairman Karpal Singh.

The Umno Youth leader said he was ashamed of Zulkifli’s statement, adding that it does not reflect the true character of a Muslim nor a Malaysian.

"Any statement that politicises his (Karpal Singh's) demise in a very tasteless manner, done by Zulkifli Noordin does not reflect the Malaysian character or Muslim people at all,” Khairy was quoted by Bernama after launching the Women@Work Forum here today.

"I am ashamed of this person and I am ashamed he contested for Barisan Nasional at the last election and we should never ever field him again as a candidate," he added.

Khairy had also taken to Twitter his criticism against Zulkifli.

Zulkifli's statement had also raised the ire of MIC strategic director, Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari.

Zulkifli had earlier tweeted that Allah had killed Karpal who had always been against the implementation of hudud laws in the country.

Karpal was killed after the MPV he was travelling in from Kuala Lumpur to Penang was involved in a collision with a lorry at Km306.1 of the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung in Kampar, Perak at 1.10 am today.

Also killed in the accident was his personal assistant, Michael Cornelius, 39.
