Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today he gave a statement to the police on Monday over a recent police report lodged by the DAP against him.

He said he placed total trust in the police to conduct an investigation on the statement.

"I provided the police with an audio-visual recording and a transcript of my speech. I place full trust in the police to conduct an investigation on the minister in charge of police affairs," he told reporters at the lobby of Parliament.

Perak DAP had lodged a police report against Ahmad Zahid alleging that he had made a seditious remark in a speech on Sept 22, during the campaign for the Pengkalan Kubor state by-election, relating to the demonstration in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, during the Perak constitutional crisis of 2009.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar last week dismissed an allegation that the police practised double standards over investigations related to the Sedition Act and said the police would record a statement from the home minister.
