1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) president Arul Kanda Kandasamy said they welcomed the statement from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) stating that no 1MDB funds were transferred to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s accounts.

“We have always maintained that the company has never provided any funds to the Prime Minister as per our media statement on 3 July 2015, confident that the truth will prevail,” Arul Kanda said in a statement today.

Arul Kanda also said allegations to the contrary, made by Opposition MP Rafizi Ramli on his blog, was highly irresponsible and a deliberate attempt to undermine the state investment company.

Rafizi on his blog yesterday, said MACC's statement that the funds were from political donors and not 1MDB, was a cover-up.

On Monday, MACC said funds amounting to RM2.6 billion supposedly deposited into Najib’s personal account, were campaign donations and not funds from 1MDB.

MACC said this was based on its investigation into SRC International and added that the investigation report into the alleged transfer of funds had been referred to the Attorney-General.
