Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has urged all parties to be patient and wait until the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) executive council meeting on April 19.

"We will know about it in five days," he told reporters here on Monday when asked whether he would contest the FAM president's post or defend the deputy president's post.

Tengku Abdullah said only the affiliated members could verify the nominations for the FAM top leadership which opened for one month since February 24.

"It involves three personalities including the Sultan (Sultan Ahmad Shah) and the Tunku Mahkota (Tunku Ismail).

"I'd rather not make any (further) statement," he said when asked to comment on talks that he had received the most nominations from FAM affiliated members.

Earlier, the media reported that Tengku Abdullah and Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (president of Johor Football Association) were tipped to challenge Sultan Ahmad Shah as the FAM president, a post he held since 1984.

On April 2, FAM general secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said three nominations were received for the president's post but declined to name the candidates or associations which nominated them.

The FAM will hold executive council elections for the 2014-2018 term during its 50th congress on May 25.
