Vogue Japan is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. And to mark the occasion in style, the magazine enlisted the help of some of the most iconic models of the 1990s, including Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer.

Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Nadja Auermann are the five "Perfect Icons" featured on the September cover of Vogue Japan. An impressive roster to say the least.

But this is not the first time an issue of Vogue has brought together some of the most famous supermodels of the late 20th century. In fact, the January 1990 issue of Vogue UK kicked off the decade with a very similar cover.

Shot by Peter Lindbergh, the photo brought together five of the biggest faces in the fashion industry of the day: Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista are in the shot, which was taken almost 25 years before they both posed for Vogue Japan this month, along with Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Tatjana Patitz.

However, this latest Japanese issue takes the concept a step farther between the pages with other photo series celebrating the anniversary. Among the models pictured are Saskia de Brauw, Carolyn Murphy, Eva Herzigova, Natasha Poly and Mariacarla Boscono.
