A villager who was cleaning his garden on Wednesday morning was shocked when he spotted a python with 90 eggs.

Maasom Mahpudz saw the 90-kilogramme reptile behind a some bushes.

"I immediately called the the Malaysian Civil Defence Department because I believe not all villagers have the expertise to capture a snake," he told reporters.

He added that the python looked big and he believed it would be impossible to remove it from the garden without the help from JPAM.

The five-metre ular sawa batik was the talk of the Kg Sg Kerang villagers as they have hardly seen such a long python.

Meanwhile JPAM Hilir Perak officer Mohd Fazly Mohd Nawawi said the python was captured within 20 minutes, with the help of the villagers.

He said JPAM had received the distress call at about 9.20am and had rushed to the scene.

"When we arrived, we saw the reptile hiding under a tree and we quickly captured it," he added.

"We also spotted 90 of its eggs there," he said adding that the eggs have been handed over to the Hilir Perak Wildlife and Natural Parks Department.
