Two more individuals – one a former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) advisor and the other an officer from the Attorney-General’s Chambers – have been detained to assist in the probe over 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

One of the individuals had allegedly met Sarawak Report editor, Clare Rewcastle-Brown in London, recently.

The arrest of the duo were said to be in connection with the investigation by the Special Task Force on the state development fund.

The investigation came about after claims of 1MDB funds were made into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s personal accounts.

The remand order for the two individuals is expected to be issued by the Petaling Jaya magistrate’s court here today.

According to a police source, the two individuals were still at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters here and has yet to be brought to the magistrate’s court.

Astro AWANI observed that only the individuals’ legal representative and family members were seen at the court at the moment.

Before this, five individuals including two directors with a “Datuk” title had been remanded to facilitate investigations.

However, all of them have since been released on MACC bails.
