Two MCA state assemblymen, namely Lim Ban Hong from Klebang and Datuk Lai Meng Chong from Machap, were today sworn in as executive councillors of the Malacca State Government before the Malacca Yang
Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

Lim, 37, and Lai, 62, took their oaths at the office of the Malacca Yang Dipertua Negeri, in Ayer Keroh here at a ceremony which was also attended by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Speaker of the State
Legislative Assembly Datuk Othman Muhamad, assemblymen and senior state government officials.

Idris was expected to announce the portfolios of the two excos at a media conference after the state exco meeting late this afternoon.

When met by reporters, Lim said he considered his appointment as a trust from the people of Malacca which he has to fulfil in the best manner possible.

"As an exco member, I will carry the voice of the people regardless of race to the state government so that whatever problems faced by the people can be resolved," he said.

Lai also said his appointment was a trust placed on him by the people in the state and that he would endeavour to further strengthen the support of the people to the Barisan Nasional in the state.

With the appointment, Malacca now has 10 members of the Executive Council.
