The Tropical Storm Jangmi which crossed the Sulu Sea completely disappeared on Wednesday, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) on Thursday.

A press release posted on the department's Facebook page, said Jangmi's last position was 8.9 latitude north and 121.7 longitude east, about 527km to the Northeast of Sandakan, Sabah.

On Wednesday, Bernama reported that Jangmi had weakened to to become a tropical depression in the afternoon.

Tropical depressions can cause strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph and waves up to 3.5 metres over the waters off Sabah (Sandakan, Kudat, west coast and interior), Labuan and some areas in Sarawak.

The department will constantly update information on Jangmi every three hours on its website www.met.gov.my.
