A Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) train driver who was involved in a two-train collision on May 7, has tested negative for drugs.

In confirming this, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the ministry would receive a preliminary investigation report next week from a special KTMB-led team investigating the accident.

"If there are elements of negligence, we will suspend the driver. This offence should not have happened. Errors due to negligence are very serious and warrant stern action," he said.

Liow said this at a press conference after launching the state-level 'Jom JPJ' Carnival at Dataran Trans here today.

He was commenting on the investigation into the collision involving KTMB's Ekspres Rakyat train from Butterworth to Johor Bahru and the Electric Train Service (ETS) train heading from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh at KM322 near Kuala Kubu Bharu station.

Three passengers were slightly injured in the collision.

In another development, Liow said the search for the wreckage of the Eurocopter AS350 helicopter which crashed on May 6, killing six people, including Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon was still underway.

"As the location of the crash surrounds Sungai Batang Lupar where the bodies were found, we are outlining a specific area for the search operation.

"On the first day of the incident, we covered 2,000sq km, followed by 800sq km on the second day. We will continue to divide into zones in the search operation," he said.

The helicopter departed from Betong and headed to Kuching at 4.12pm before losing contact, Not long after, it went missing.

Also killed were Noriah's husband, Asmuni Abdullah, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Muhammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai, Noriah's bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun and Filipino pilot Rudolf Rex Ragas.

On another matter, Liow said from June 1, the public could renew or perform transactions regarding vehicle registration via online to ease dealing like transfer of vehicle ownership without visiting the road transport department counter.
