The lack of maintenance jobs is the reason why small class contractors such as G1 and G2 in Pahang are facing difficulties in getting small projects currently, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.

He said as such, it was not true that the contractors could not get jobs because most small projects were given to concessionaires.

"Actually, the number of contractors is high compared to the maintenance jobs offered to them," he told reporters after opening the state-level 2016 Malaysia Day celebration here, on Saturday.

Adnan said this when commenting on the appeal of the Pahang Contractors Association of Malaysia (PKMM) to the government to give more opportunities to class G1 and G2 contractors to carry out small projects.

PKMM president Ghafar Lambak said that it was understood the latest situation showed that most projects were given out concessionally thus making it difficult for the small contractors to sustain themselves.
