Three students were killed after the Perodua Viva car they were travelling in skidded and collided head-on with a Proton Gen 2 car on the Alor Gajah-Melaka-Jasin Expressway near the Petron station in Jalan Malim, Taman Cheng Bistari, today.

Mohd Aiman Hakim Badrul Hisham, Nik Muhammad Sajirin Nik Hazairi and Mohamad Shawal Abdul Razak, all 19, died on the spot in the accident which occurred at 11.25am. The driver of the other car was injured.

Melaka Tengah Police chief ACP Shaikh Abdul Adzis Shaikh Abdullah, who confirmed the accident, said it was raining when the students'' car went out of control and crashed onto the other vehicle.

A spokesman of the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department said eight fire-fighters rushed to the scene in two trucks from the Jalan Kubu Fire and Rescue Station after being summoned at 11.30am.

"The fire-fighters found two of the students trapped in the Perodua Viva car," he said.

The spokesman said the three students had died on the spot.
