A man who was on the police’s wanted list as well as two others, were killed in a shootout incident with the police early today in Gerik, Perak.

According to police sources, the incident took place at 1.40am in Jalan Intan when a team of police from the Perak police headquarters had stumbled upon a white Proton Wira with the trio inside behaving suspiciously.

The police tried to approach the car for inspection, but were shocked when the driver reversed the car at high speed.

The passengers then fired several shots at the police, forcing the police to fire back.

The shootout resulted in the trio’s death.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the three suspects , aged between 25 and 36 years old were from Kelantan were in Gerik town to commit a crime before they were brought down by the police.
“When the police had ordered them to stop, they had stopped but then continued to back up their vehicle and fired shots at the police.

" The police had to defend themselves and found three people inside the car dead , " Khalid said in a press conference at police headquarters.

The modus operandi of the suspects were stealing cars, armed robbery and burglary.

In addition police also found two .38 pistols and .22 type in the white Proton Wira owned by the suspects , as well as 11 bullets and equipment for committing burglary and stealing cars.

" We believe they are responsible for at least one murder case in Paka, Terengganu and also two cases of attempted murder, " he said.

One of them had also opened fire against a single mother in a van Toyota Alphard van in Kuantan and involved in at least three cases of armed robbery .

Police have been hunting all three suspects for the last six months.
