Three members of a family were killed in an accident after the car they were in was crushed by a billboard at Kilometre 399.8 of the North-South Highway heading from Tanjung Malim to Behrang, early this morning.

The family which included a husband and wife and their daughter died at the scene of the accident.

They were Dzulkarnain Kamaruzzaman, 64, his wife Jamnah Ibrahim, 56, and their daughter Nur Juliana, 17.

Hulu Selangor Disrict Chief of Police Supt R. Subramaniam in a statement said that the 6.35am accident took place when a container truck heading towards Ipoh crashed into the back of a lorry.

The crash caused the container truck to skid, overturn and crash into the structure of a billboard which collapsed and hit a Mercedes car which was in the middle lane.

All three bodies have been sent to the Kuala Kubu Hospital for post-mortem. Other family members have also been informed of the accident.

The container truck driver and his attendant who were injured have been taken to the Slim River Hospital for treatment while another container truck driver was arrested for urine tests and further investigation.

The accident caused a two kilometre traffic jam.
