Three families in Kampung Belukar, Pulai Chondong near here were evacuated when their homes were flooded and under about three metres of water since Wednesday.

Their village was flooded after water levels in Sungai Bagan and Sungai Kelantan overflowed following incessant rain since Sunday (Dec 14).

A flood victim in Kampung Belukar, Rahmah Daud, 53, said she and her family had to move to a surau nearby when water started to seep into their home at 8pm on Wednesday.

"Alhamdulillah, our family realised that water began to seep into our home early and we had gathered several important documents and valuables," she told Bernama when met at the surau.

Rahmah, a housewife, said she had difficulty in managing her children and belongings when she had to move to the surau especially as her daughter, Norshazwani Rosli, 12, was having fever.

"My family and I are thankful that we received food aid from the government early yesterday morning," she said.

Another housewife, Nur Daud, 48, also spoke of the difficulty faced by her family every time the flood came but this time, the situation was worse than last year.

However, she was grateful that her plight caught the attention of the state and federal governments.

A flood victim in Kampung Titian Tok Ali, nearby, Abu Razak Ismail said he feared that he would face problems in getting food supply when he could not get to the town nearby because Jalan Kemubu, which leads to the village, was flooded since Wednesday.

This had also affected several other villages namely Kampung Belukar, Kampung Lepang Kandis, Kampung Chekok which were also cut off.

As of 9pm last night, the flood situation in the village improved and the flood victims planned to see their homes this morning.
