A Malaysian blogger known only as Afif has recently wrote about his experience with the couple who are currently being detained in Sweden, Shalwati Nor Shal and Azizul Raheem Awaluddin.

In his blog entitled Time Travel Afif, Afif took us back to the year 2005 in Johannesburg, South Africa, when he first met the couple.

At the time, he was studying at University Islam Darul Uloom Zakariya.

He wrote about how ‘Uncle Azizul and Auntie Shal’ were well respected among students from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam and even Thailand.

Afifi said the students would always visit the couple at their home in Sandton City, Johannesburg.

He also wrote about his experience with the four children in South Africa where he taught Aisyah, Ammar, Adam, and Arif to perform prayers.

Pictures decorate his blog post of happy times with the family on various outings such as BBQs, hiking trips, cooking pizza and even going to school.

Afif had also stayed with the family during the month of Ramadan in Sweden adding he never saw anything out of the ordinary.

He stressed that in the five years he had known this family, he never witnesses any abuse on the children in whatever form.

Afif cites many other testimonials in his blog attesting to the couple’s demeanor around the children such as from Malaysian Ambassador Datuk Yahya in 2004 and other government officials, businessmen, and family friends.
