We all know how hard it can be to keep our work/life balance in check, but one design group has come up with a green reminder to help keep stress at bay.

"Statera" is a desktop décor item which uses the therapeutic properties of plants to improve work environments and boost mental well-being.

Featuring two ceramic pots conjoined by a metal structure which is supported by a stone base, the piece can be filled with complementary plant pairings such as Gardenia and Golden Pothos or Peppermint and Philodendron.

The brainchild of design and communication research center Fabrica, Statera's name is a derivative of the Latin world for ‘balance'.

"One of the many ways plants can benefit our work life is by increasing productivity," explains the studio. "Shifting our attention to an indirect or effortless form of engagement can refresh us.

"Plants can offer this type of absorbing, restorative distraction."

The design also aims to help to clean the air and combat the effects of headaches, drowsiness and loss of concentration that can be caused by the amounts of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and CO2 emitted by computers and printers.

Statera will be available to purchase from September.
