A temporary hospital will be set up during the Umno General Assembly next month.

Party executive secretary Datuk Ab Rauf Yusof said, the hospital will accommodate 20 beds with more than 30 doctors made available.

“The doctors will treat and observe patients during the assembly this time around.

“The hospital will be set up at the assembly area, the location where the Umno President will hoist the flag,” he said in a meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here today.

The Umno General Assembly will be held from November 25 to 29.

Ab Rauf said, the doctors and health officers will be taken from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) and the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Medical Faculty.

“Last year, more than 80 visitors, including delegates, had sought treatment at HKL.

“Hopefully this temporary hospital will benefit all those experiencing any health issues during the Umno General Assembly,” he said.

Apart from the hospital, Ab Rauf said, several improvements will also be made outside the assembly hall.

“We will set up a barrier to ease the movement of VIPs in and out of the hall.

“The VIPs will be able to exit the hall after each session and not be stopped by the media for interviews,” he said.

Meanwhile the Media Centre this time around will be divided into two categories.

“Mainstream and online media personnel will be split into two zones,” he added.

The Presidential Address will be a closed door affair on November 25 followed by the meeting of the party’s wings; Wanita, Youth and Puteri in the evening.

The Wanita, Youth and Puteri conferences will then take place on November 26, while the Umno General Assembly will begin on November 27.
