The 'Tangkap Malaysian Official 1' (#TangkapMO1) rally that was held around the federal capital today was carried out peacefully without any untoward incident.

Starting around 2pm, participants of the rally that was organised by a youth activist group called 'Gerakan Anak Muda' gathered at two locations – Masjid Negara and the KL Sogo shopping centre before marching to Dataran Merdeka.

Most of the protesters later began gathering at the intersection of Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman as the initial location of the assembly, Dataran Merdeka, was closed down.

Crowded with protesters, the traffic around the area then became more congested. The organisers then directed the protesters to move towards Jalan Raja Laut to facilitate traffic.

The rally continued with speeches by several student leaders, including the head organiser, Anis Syafiqah Mohd Yusof.

"Those who are here today, they believe in the power of the people and they love this country.

"We need to unite against tyranny. I'm doing this (rally) not for my own future but the future of all Malaysians," she said in her speech.

Participants of the rally soon dispersed after, around 5pm.
