Embattled Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir who is prepared to face any consequence in the Kedah UMNO crisis has challenged those calling for his resignation to take over his position if they think they are good enough.

"I am prepared. I believe all my struggles will become a reality," he said in his speech last night at Kampung Sanglang.

Commenting on the current political crisis in Kedah and the pressure for his resignation, Mukhriz said he is not afraid.

“I am not afraid of whatever action against me. I am an individual who believe everything happens for a reason.

“You will only know the power of the position when you are handling it. Take it if you feel you are good enough, but don’t regret when you have it,” he said.

Mukhriz also called on his supporters and the people of Kedah to be calm and not create unrest until the matter is resolved.

Led by Kedah UMNO deputy chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, the group said among the reasons for the loss of confidence was because Mukhriz failed to make strategic planning for the party to face the 14th general election.

Ahmad Bashah said that since Mukhriz's appointment as the menteri besar, there had been many problems including the denial of support for the UMNO President and offering of views which confused the people in the state.
