The Pilgrims Fund Board of Malaysia (TH) today announced Depositors' Bonus for the 2014 financial year will comprise 6.25 percent annual bonus and an additional 2 percent Haj bonus.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said payment of both bonuses would amount to RM3.2 billion, which was an increase of 23 percent compared to 2013.

This would benefit some 8.6 million active TH depositors' accounts.

"Net profit after zakat amounted to RM3.3 billion compared to RM2.6 billion in 2013, an increase of 2.4 percent.

"This represents more than a five-fold increase in profit since 2006," he said at a press conference to announce TH financial performance today.

Meanwhile, TH Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Ismee Ismail said, this year TH would focus on domestic investments following uncertainty in foreign markets.

"We do investments based on specific asset location, and I believe with the depreciation of the ringgit and declining crude oil prices, we have to shift our investment focus on domestic markets this year.

"We'll try not to make fund outflows and our domestic investments will be mainly for equities, debt securities, REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts), money market and financial instruments," he said.

Ismee said TH's overseas asset investments contributed approximately five per cent to its total revenue last year.

Last year, TH's revenue amounted to RM3.29 billion, slightly lower than the RM3.73 billion achieved in 2013.

On the construction of the Haj Complex at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, Ismee said the building is expected to be ready in mid-2016.
