THERE are certain people who are so accustomed to weird practices before boarding a plane.

The most popular one is probably stepping on the right foot into the plane, believed by some people to be effective to avoid any disaster.

But for this 80-year-old grandma from China, tossing a coin into the plane's engine helps to convince her that the flight will be a smooth one.

But her actions had resulted the China Southern Airlines' flight from Pudong to Guangzhou, to delay for hours.

Huffing Post reported the woman, only known as Qiu, was seen tossing the coins into the Airbus 320 engine halfway up the boarding staircase.

Crew members then ordered the passengers off the plane and start searching for the coins.

One coin was discovered inside the engine, while another eight was found on the ground.

The flight was delayed for almost five hours on Tuesday.

Qiu is deemed fit and did not suffer from any psychological illness. She has been arrested for further investigations.
